An assistant can help you read ranking history when it has access to the actual checks. Ask it to show which keywords moved, which page ranked, and when the checks ran. Then open the underlying data before changing a page.

Ask a question the data can answer
“Which of my tracked keywords fell last week?” is a useful start. A good reply should name the site, keyword, earlier and later check dates, positions, and ranking URLs. If a check is missing, the reply should say so.
Follow with a narrower question: “Did the same page rank for this keyword on both dates?” A URL change can explain why a chart deserves closer inspection. It does not by itself explain why Google chose a different page.
You can also ask for a short update to share with a colleague. Require the assistant to separate observations from possible causes. For example: “Show the stored checks first. Then list page changes we should investigate. Say when the account has no data for a claim.”
Keep the account limits in the answer
Guest access is temporary and has a smaller site and keyword allowance. An account key follows the plan held by its owner. Some research tools are available only on paid plans. If an assistant says a tool is unavailable, check the account status and the current MCP documentation before assuming the feature exists on your plan.

Use the response to decide what to inspect
Consider a weekly report that shows a service keyword moving while the ranking URL changed from a service page to an article. Open both pages. Check whether the article now answers the query better, whether internal links changed, and whether Search Console shows a matching change in clicks or impressions. This is an example of investigation, not a claim that the URL switch caused the movement.
