Hand off a batch of new pages for indexing
Your assistant checks every URL in the batch, asks which submissions you want it to make, and gives you exact steps for the ones you make yourself. Each submission is recorded with dates to check back.
Example
You ask
The new guides batch went live this morning. Can you get it ready for indexing and tell me what I need to submit?
The assistant
Your assistant runs the pre-submission checks on each URL, writes the batch file, and asks whether to send the IndexNow request. It then lists the Search Console and Bing steps for you, with the homepage and top pages to request, and check-back dates on day 3, day 7, and day 21.
Use it when
- A batch of new or changed pages is finished and live.
- New pages are not showing in search yet.
- You want one record of what was submitted, by whom, and when to check again.
You give it
- The batch URLs, the sitemap location, and the date the batch went live.
- Your confirmation that the batch is live. The skill starts only then.
- Access to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools for the steps you do yourself. Submitting a sitemap in Search Console needs owner permission on the property.
It returns
- Pre-submission results for each URL: status, indexability, sitemap entry, links, robots.txt, and schema.
- Exact steps for Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, with the URLs to request.
- A submission record: the URLs, the sitemap, who submitted each item, and where.
- Check-back dates on day 3, day 7, and day 21.
How the skill runs
Run the pre-submission checks
For every URL, confirm a 200 status with no redirect chain, no noindex, and a canonical to itself. Check the sitemap entry, a link from an indexed page, robots.txt access, and schema. Fix or pull any failure.
Prepare the batch
Write one batch file with the URLs, the sitemap location, and the date. Update the sitemap once for the batch, keep the same file name, and do not resubmit a file that has not changed.
Check what your assistant can do
Re-check the connected tools before your assistant says what it can do. Google Search Console and Bing steps stay with you. IndexNow is the one request it can send, from a shell, once per batch and with your yes. If it cannot run commands, you send it.
Decide two things
Your assistant asks up to two questions at a time: do you want the IndexNow request sent for this batch, and, if customers visit you, do you want the steps for Google Business Profile? Nothing is sent without your yes for the batch.
Submit in Google and Bing
In Search Console, submit the sitemap once in the Sitemaps report. In URL Inspection, request indexing for the homepage and the five to ten most important new pages. In Bing Webmaster Tools, verify the site and submit the sitemap.
Record the submission
Log the date, the batch URLs, the sitemap location, who submitted each item and where (Google, Bing, or IndexNow), and the check-back dates: day 3, day 7, and day 21.
Check back on the set dates
On day 3, check URL Inspection for each priority URL. On day 7, check the Sitemaps report and Bing's index status. On day 21, if pages are still not indexed, check content, internal links, duplicates, and blocked crawling.
Where it stops
- Google Search Console and Bing submissions stay with you. Your assistant sends IndexNow only with your yes for that batch.
- IndexNow does nothing for Google, since Google does not take part in it. Google's Indexing API is not used for these pages, because Google limits it to job postings and livestream pages.
- No service can promise indexing, and this skill gives no date. Google says a new page can take a day or two to a few weeks.
Questions before you install
Can my assistant submit my pages to Google for me?
Only in part. Google Search Console steps stay with you, since no connected tool writes to Search Console. Your assistant can send an IndexNow request for a batch once you say yes, but IndexNow does not reach Google.
How long until Google indexes a new page?
Google says a new page can take a day or two to a few weeks. This skill gives that range and does not promise a date.
Should I resubmit my sitemap every day?
No. Submit it once for each batch, and resubmit only when the file changes. Status is checked on set dates instead.
